Sponsor Licence Application Rejected - Incorrect Application Fee Was Paid

About Sponsor Licence

Sponsor licence is a permission granted by the Home Office that allows UK-based employers to sponsor non-UK nationals for employment in the UK.

Applying for a sponsor licence can be a complex and time-consuming process. Unfortunately, even after investing considerable effort into your application, it is possible for your sponsor licence application to be rejected.

In this blog, we will explore what to do if your licence is rejected due to the incorrect application fee was paid.

Sponsor Licence Rejected

Firstly, you should review the rejection notice and check whether the incorrect fee was the only reason for the refusal, or whether there were other issues with your application. If there were other issues, you will need to address those before reapplying. If the incorrect fee was the only issue, you should be able to reapply with the correct fee. You will need to submit a new application and pay the correct fee.

Sponsor Licence Application Fee

For small organisations, the sponsor licence application fee is £536.

For medium and large organisations, the sponsor licence application fee is £1,476.

Many organisations paid the incorrect fee because they fail to understand which category they belong to.

According the Home Office website, a small organisation is defined as 1-50 staff, less than 10.2 million annual turnovers, and total assets worth £5.1 million or less.

If you meet the above criteria, you are eligible for the small application fee which is £536. If you do not satisfy any of the above criteria, you might need to pay a big application fee which is £1,476.

However, there’re some exemptions:

-       If you’re a charity or non-profit organisation, you might be eligible for a small application fee.

-       If you’re in the insurance industry, even if you have less than 50 staff and less turnover, you might need to pay for a big fee.

If you are unsure about the correct fee under your specific circumstances, do seek professional advice from an immigration advisor or contact WorkPermitCloud.
